Our Story
Hello and Welcome!
I'm Chanlie, the builder, dreamer, and creator behind Rags & Wood Co. I live with my husband and our two beautiful girls in the rural Nevada desert, surrounded by sagebrush, hay farms, and cattle ranches.
First and foremost, I'm a wife and mama, and I'm incredibly thankful for the life God has blessed us with. Most weekends you'll find us helping at our small family cattle ranch, enjoying the old-fashioned way of life, and teaching our girls the importance of faith, family, and hard work.
I'm an old soul who has always loved things that are worn, weathered, rustic, and perfectly imperfect. Things that tell a story of the life they've lived. There's just something special about taking something old and forgotten and giving it a beautiful new life.
Whether I'm working in the wood shop, sewing wild rags, or dreaming up something new, I've always found so much joy in creating with my own two hands.
Built on Family & Tradition
My love for building and creating started at a very young age, and I have my family to thank for so much of it.
My dad is an incredibly talented woodworker who spent much of my childhood building homes. As a young adult, he was in an accident that cost him most of his left arm. But rather than letting that stop him from doing what he loved, he persevered and proved that with enough determination, there was nothing he couldn't accomplish. He taught me the value of hard work, patience, determination, and taking pride in what you build. Everything I know about woodworking, I learned from a man whose skill, determination, and craftsmanship have set the standard I will always strive to live up to in my own work.
My love for all things old, rustic, and weathered comes from my mom. She's my best friend, my right hand, and such a big part of Rags & Wood Co. From sewing wild rags to sanding and finishing my woodworking projects, she's always there lending a hand. I truly don't know what I'd do without her.
Woodworking will always have a special place in my heart. I love taking old barnwood, full of history and character, and turning it into something beautiful that can be cared for, cherished, and passed down for generations.
And my wild rags are another reflection of the traditions I hold dear. Inspired by the old-time cowboys in my family, they're a way of carrying a little piece of that heritage forward while letting everyone add their own personality and style.
Rags & Wood Co. is built on the things I value most: faith, family, hard work, and a genuine love for being a maker.
Why Rags & Wood
Rags & Wood Co. is more than just a name. It represents two of my greatest blessings, my daughters Rinley and Wakley. By a fortunate stroke of serendipity, their initials also happen to match my two passions: rags and wood.
What started as a love for putting my own twist on the traditional wild rag and creating in the wood shop has grown into something that carries pieces of our family, our Western heritage, and the life we're raising our girls to know and love.
I'm incredibly grateful that God has given me the opportunity to turn something I love into this little business.
Thank you for being here, following along, and supporting this dream of mine. It truly means more than you know.
